Cumbres Lastarria holds two “S” Seal certificates for Sustainable Tourism awarded by Sernatur, as well as its LEED certification in recognition of its efficient design in the consumption of energy and water. One of the bedrocks of the hotel’s sustainability policy is its water savings program, with ventilators in all guest rooms that considerably reduce expenses whilst generating savings of over 45% in the drinking water used in bathrooms and appliances. There are protocols in place regarding recycling paper, cardboard, glass, cans, plastic and fried oil as well as the assurance of good quality air inside the hotel, plus solar panels used for heating water that enable savings of over 19%. We work with local producers (over 50%) where many of these products are completely sustainable in line with our awareness of care for the environment. In the field of culture, the hotel has hung paintings in its rooms from among the works of great national artists portraying the history of Chile, landscapes and old-age customs from the time of colonial Santiago. What is more, the hotel takes part in the local cultural agenda, supporting the activities of the museums found in the surroundings of the hotel, such as the Mavi, the Gam and the National Museum of Beaux Arts. Socially, the hotel is a supporter of two Foundations: Smartrip and América Solidaria.
